Overview
QuickCompress is built and operated by Velorion Technologies ("we", "us"). QuickCompress is a native macOS app that compresses PDFs and images locally on your Mac. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don't.
What QuickCompress does
QuickCompress compresses and converts PDFs and images using built-in Apple frameworks. All file processing happens on your Mac. Your files never leave your device.
What we don't collect
- We don't upload your files, file names, or file contents to any server.
- We don't require an account, an email, or any sign-in.
- We don't collect contacts, location, photos library, microphone, or camera data.
- We don't run third-party advertising SDKs.
- We don't sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
What we do collect
All file processing is done locally on your Mac. No data related to your files — contents, file names, paths, thumbnails, or page text — ever leaves the app. The only data transmitted is the aggregate, non-identifying product telemetry described below.
We collect a small amount of non-identifying data to understand how QuickCompress is used and to fix bugs. We use this data solely to improve the product — to prioritize features, tune defaults, and catch regressions. It is never sold, rented, or used for advertising.
- Aggregate usage analytics (Firebase Analytics). We collect aggregated, non-identifying events about how the app is used: app opens, which preset was chosen, when a compression started, finished, or failed, and the input/output size of completed jobs. These events are not linked to any person. File names and file contents are never included.
- Crash and error reports (Firebase Crashlytics). When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, a non-identifying crash report (stack trace, OS and app version, device model) is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can diagnose and fix the bug. Reports do not contain file contents, file names, or other personal information.
- Crash reports (Apple). Apple's built-in crash reporter may also send us a non-identifying report. You can opt out in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
- Email (only if you contact us). If you reach out via the contact form on our website, we collect your name, email, and message so we can reply.
Third parties
QuickCompress uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics from Google to collect the non-identifying product-improvement data described above. No advertising SDKs, no social SDKs, no third-party trackers are embedded. We do not share collected data with any other third party.
Children's privacy
QuickCompress is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because we don't collect personal data by default, there is no per-user record to access, correct, or delete. If you've contacted us by email, you can request deletion of that record at any time by emailing contact@velorion.tech.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
